Draw a neat labelled diagram of a hot cathode ray tube.  What is the effect on the beam particles if (i)  a hotter filament is used?  (ii)  the anode voltage is increased?

(i)  When a hotter filament is used, we have an increase in the number of electrons emitted.

(ii)  When the anode voltage is increased, we have an increase in the energy of the emitted electrons.
