Draw a linesegment PQ =5.6cm. Draw a perpendicular to it from a point A outside PQ by using ruler and compass.

Step 1. Draw the line PQ=5.6 cm. Mark a point A to draw perpendicular line to PQ from A
Step 2. Using compass draw two arcs of same radius with centre as A.
Let these arcs meet line PQ at R and S as shown in figure.
Step 3. Now making R as centre, draw an arc using compass above PQ .
Using same radius draw another arc using compass above PQ making S as centre.
Let these arcs meet at B as shown in figure. Now using a ruler, draw a line that is passing through AB upto line PQ.
This line which is passing through A and B is perpendicular to PQ.
