CBSE Class 10 Answered

Draw a circuit diagram of an electric circuit containing a cell a key an ammeter a resister of 2 ohm in series with a combination of two resisters of 4 ohm each in parallel and a voltmeter across the parallel combination. Will the potential difference across the 2 ohm resisters be the same as that across the parallel combination? Give reasons.

The effective resistance of the parallel combination is
1 over R subscript e f f end subscript equals 1 over R subscript 1 plus 1 over R subscript 2
1 over R subscript e f f end subscript equals 1 fourth plus 1 fourth
R subscript e f f end subscript equals 2 o h m
Hence the effective resistance of the parallel combination is same as that of 2 ohm hence the potential drop across the 2 ohm and parallel combination would be same.
