  1. Nitrogen: It is essential for the survival of plants. Since plants cannot directly take nitrogen from the atmosphere, the bacteria that live in the soil and roots of the plants convert it into a form that can be used by the plants. It is generally used in all pharmacological drugs.
  1. Oxygen: It is a life giving gas as it is inhaled by both humans and animals. It helps in combustion and is required in energy production in generators and ships.
  1. Carbon Dioxide: Plants prepare their food with the help of carbon dioxide. It absorbs the heat and keeps the Earth warm during the night.
  1. Water Vapour: Water vapour absorbs the heat and keeps the Earth warm during the night. It results in the formation of clouds which subsequently brings rainfall.
