Discuss the importance of rocks.

Rocks are important for the following reasons:
- They have played a great part in the development of civilisations.
- Early men made tools out of rocks and stones. Quartzite was mostly used for making various stone tools.
- Rocks are also used for building many structures. For example, the Red Fort is made up of red sandstone and the Taj Mahal is made up of granite.
- Small stones, made out of rocks, are used to play various games.
- Rocks like granite are used in the construction of many buildings.
- Some rocks are also made up of various minerals. Coal and petroleum are used as fuels; while iron, gold, aluminum etc are used as in various industries.
- Fossils, found in sedimentary rocks, are a great source of energy.
- Many minerals found in rocks such as iron, aluminum and magnesium have helped in the development of many industries.
