diamond is covalent,yet it has high melting point.why?

It has a 3-D interconnected tetrahedral structure due to which it has high MP and BP moreovre, it has all the four valence electron bonded as a sigma bond unlike graphite which has only three and fullerene which has a fourth bond as weak pi bond which gives it extra strenght.
