A good yield of crops is influenced by several factors such as

  • Proper preparation of soil
  • Timely sowing of seeds
  • Addition of manures and fertilisers
  • Irrigation
  • Proper climatic conditions
  • Removal of weeds
  • Harvesting
  • Storage of food grains

Hence, although the climatic conditions were favourable, the farmer might have failed to obtain a good yield of crops because of the following reasons:

  • Absence of good quality seeds
  • Inappropriate or insufficient irrigation of crops
  • Improper application of manures or fertilisers
  • No removal of weeds
