Tidal energy:

The level of water in the sea rises and falls and thus the energy is obtained from this rising and falling of ocean waves and tides.

The ocean water is forced through the turbines to generate electricity. This is called the tidal energy.

Ocean thermal energy:

The sun heats up the water at the surface of seas or oceans. However, the water deep under the ocean is much colder. This difference in temperature of the upper and lower surface of the ocean provides energy known as the ocean thermal energy. This energy is used to produce electricity in ocean-thermal-energy conversion power plant.
