The North Western Highlands
- These comprise of the mountains and plateaus extending from Scandinavia to Scotland.
- The North Western Highlands are old fold mountains made up of hard rocks. These were very steep and rugged mountains in the past.
- The ice deposited on these mountains eroded them and now these highlands are more of low rounded hills.
- At many places along the coasts, we find fjords. These are deep submerged glacier valleys which were filled with sea water forming inlets into the sea. These are surrounded by steep rocks from both the sides.
