Tropical forests are forested landscapes in tropical regions: i.e. land areas approximately bounded by the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. The variety of forests in tropical regions vary according to the distribution of rainfall and temperature. Tropical forests are often thought of as evergreen rainforests and moist forests, however in reality only up to 60% of tropical forest is rainforests. Tropical rainforests are dominated by broad-leaved trees that form a dense upper canopy and contain a diverse forms of vegetation and other life.On the basis of precipitation, these forests are divided into moist deciduous forests which receive rainfall of 200–70 cm and dry deciduous forests which receive rainfall of 100–70 cm. The trees shed their leaves for about six to eight weeks during summers. They grow in regions which receive rainfall between 200 cm and 70 cm.
