Describe briefly the military expeditions of Shah Jahan.
Shah Jahan continued Akbar’s policy of expansion. He strengthened the Mughal empire by conquering the Deccan. He subdued the kingdoms of Bijapur, Ahmadnagar and Golconda.
He sent a large army into Central Asia to suppress the Uzbegs, but the expedition proved to be a failure. He also failed to regain Kandahar from the Persians. Shah Jahan expelled the Portuguese from Bengal as they were misusing their trading privileges.
