- Gully erosion: When running water cuts through clayey soil and makes deep channels into it, it is called gully erosion. As a result of gully erosion, the land becomes unfit for cultivation.
- Sheet erosion: When water flows in a large quantity in the form of sheets and erode the soil, it is known as sheet erosion.
