Vascular bundles in stem, roots and leaf veins form a continuous system of tubes which together form a transport system throughout the entire plant body. This process of transporting water and salts upwards through xylem and food in upwards and downward directions through phloem is called conduction.

Types of conduction in a plant:

1. Transport of Water and Minerals – through root pressure and transpirational pull
2. Mechanism of Transport of Food – through translocation
