Dear Ma’m, Why is electric flux a scalar quantity?

Electric flux through a surface is the number of electric lines of force passing normally through the surface.The electric flux is measured by the product of the electric field strength and the surface area perpendicular to the field.
Electric flux dφ = E . dA
Electric flux is a scalar quantity, because it's the dot product of two vector quantities, electric field and the perpendicular differential area.
It has only magnitude and no direction.
