CBSE Class 11-science Answered
consider a rain drop of rain water having mass 1g falling from a height of 1km. it hits the ground with a speed of 50m/s . take 'g' constant with a value 10m/sec.square. The work done by the [a] gravitational force and the [b] resistive force of air is ?

Expert Answer
Workdone by gravitational force is loss of potential energy = mgh = 1×10-3×10×1000 = 10 J
loss of potential energy = gain in kinetic energy + workdone by resistive force
gain in kinetic energy = (1/2)mv2 = (1/2)×10-3×50×50 = 1.25 J
workdone by resistive force = 10-1.25 = 8.75 J
