Yes, clothing patterns and dressing styles brought conflicts in the Indian society. Indian society was divided into many castes with unwritten rules and codes which had to be followed by the people of different castes. Whenever these rules were broken, the society had to witness social conflicts. One such example was in the south, riots broke out in Travancore when a Shanar woman was attacked by the people of the upper caste for covering her upper body by wearing upper-caste clothes.
