Expert Answer
It is not due to to the excessive nourishment that causes eutrophication, it is the loss of aquatic life due to the excessive involvement of fertilisers, industrial wastes and domestic sewage in the water bodies.
With the use of high–yielding varieties of crops, the use of fertilisers and pesticides has increased a lot. Excess fertilisers may mix with surface water and may get drained into water bodies. These fertilisers overstimulate the growth of algae, causing eutrophication, and robbing the water of dissolved oxygen vital to other aquatic life.
