Can we have an all women members Panchayat in the villages? Discuss the pros and cons faced by villagers in such situation. (3 Marks)

Yes, we can have an all women members in Panchayat in the villages. The process is already being carried out in some villages of Gujarat and Karnataka.
Pros:
- It helps to focus more on the development of women in the village.
- Also, the government rewards the villages having all women panchayat, with cash. This helps in the development of the villages and its people.
- As compared to men, women don’t have bad habits like smoking, drinking. Moreover, they are not easily corrupted. This proves to be beneficial in many ways.
- Even though women are elected in the Panchayat, it is a known that in villages the actual administration is run by the husbands of the women who are in power in panchayats. This totally nullifies the intention of having all women panchayats.
