Velocity of transverse waves = begin mathsize 12px style square root of T over mu end root end style
where T is tension in string and μ is the linear mass density

(density of copper = 8930 kg/m3 , wrong value is given in the question ! )

μ = Mass/Length = (density×crosssection area×Length)/Length = density×(crosssection area) = 8930 ×10-6 kg/m

Velocity of transverse waves = begin mathsize 12px style square root of fraction numerator 9.8 over denominator 8930 cross times 10 to the power of negative 6 end exponent end fraction end root space almost equal to space 33 space m divided by s end style
