Calculate the time taken by a car to increase its speed from 36 Km/h to 54 Km/h if its uniform acceleration is 1.24 metre per second square. Also find the distance travelled by the car during a period

Expert Answer
Time taken to change speed for accelerated motion is obtained from the equation,
v = u + a t , where u and v are initial and final speeds respectively, a is acceleratioan and
t is time taken to change the speed.
initial speed = 36 km/h = 36×(5/18) = 10 m/s
final speed = 54 kmph = 54×(5/18) = 15 m/s
acceleration = 1.24 m/s2
time taken to change speed = ( 15-10)/1.24 ≈ 4 s
