Annie Besant established the famous theosophical society in India. She worked tirelessly to revive the Hindu faith, its foundational philosophy and its modes of worship. She contributed a great deal in the movement of cultural revival which saw Indians rediscovering their national pride. She also established the Central Hindu College and was a major figure in the Home Rule Movement.
