Hi,

  • Excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach causes acidity and the substances which are used to neutralize this excess acid in the stomach are called antacids.
  • Similarly, release of the chemical compound histamine in the body causes allergy and the drugs used to overcome the effect of histamine in the body are called anti allergic drugs.
  • Both antacids and anti allergic drugs work on different receptors. They do not interfere with each other's functions but interfere with the functions of histamines.
