Let Mass Number of Xa is A. 
After absorbing neutron the mass number increases by A+1.
 
Here 2 MeV is absorbed by Xa, then converted to Y and 1 MeV photon energy is emiited.
Then excess 1 MeV is stored in Y as excess Binding energy
 
then Binding energy per nucleon = begin mathsize 12px style 6 space plus space fraction numerator 1 over denominator A plus 1 end fraction space M e V end style
