Expert Answer
A candle is made up of paraffin wax. When we burn, the wick of the candle, the paraffin wax in the wick as well as near it starts melting. So, we can say that wax melts.
Now, the wick is a good absorber of liquid. So, the melted wax rises up the wick and the fire vapourises the wax.
So, we can say that the paraffin wax that melts rises in the wick and evaporates.
Hence, the statement that "As we light up a candle, some of the wax evaporates whereas some melts".
