As the thickness of wire increases so also the number of atoms increases so how does the electron freely move through the thicker wire as compared to the thinner one?

In a coducting wire, most of the current passes through the surface. Hence if the thickness increases ,
electrons are getting more surface area to pass through  and  move freely
