Hi Mrithika,
a. Pine trees are found in regions with extreme climates (hot summers and snowy winters). The trees in such regions have to prevent the loss of water from the plant during hot days. The presence of wax on the leaves prevents the loss of water in these days. Also during winters, the snow tends to accumulate on the leaves, in such cases the wax makes the leaves slippery and prevents the accumulation of snow.
b. Lion is a predator and has to look out for the prey. In the case of lion the eyes are placed in front, as it helps it to get a correct estimate of the distance between him and the prey and hence help in hunting. In case of the deer, the animal serves as a prey. The eyes placed at the sides in deer helps it to look in all directions and keep a look out on the direction from which the predator may come and hence run and survive.
