Answer:
If the object is at side 1 then light is going from side1 to side 2. so R1 is calculated in opposite direction of light incident and R2 is calculated in the direction of incident light.
So one is taken positive and the other in negative.
rest is putting the values in lens maker's formula and finding out the refractive index.
