Expert Answer
If a is width of single slit, θ is angular position of first minimum from central maximum, then we have
aθ = λ .....................(1)
Hence , angular separation θ = λ/a = 600 × 10-9 / (0.3 × 10-3 ) = 2 ×10-3 rad
Angular separation between first maximum and central maximum is given by,
aθ = (3/2)λ .....................(2)
Hence θ = (3/2) (λ/a) = 1.5 × 600 × 10-9 / (0.3 × 10-3 ) = 3 × 10-3 rad
hence angular separation on between first maximum and central maximum on both sides is given by, 2θ = 6 × 10-3 rad
