(1) Neha explained to her sister about thermal expansion. She explained her that pouring of very hot water directly makes the glass to get sudden high temperature. She explained her, due to increase in temperature solid material will undergo thermal expansion. She also explained her that glass is not crystalline solid but amorphous solid. She helped her to understand that  glass will break due to sudden thermal expansion.
 
(2) Most of the solids have regular crystal structure in which atoms are placed in a regular array in all three directions. Due to thermal energy, atoms are vibrating about their equlibrium position. The amplitude of vibration depends on the temperature of the solid. When we transfer more thermal energy, temperature of the solid increases and hence amplitude of vibrational motion of atoms will increase. This will give rise to expansion of the solids. The expansion is proportional to the dimensions of the solid.
 
(3) Neha showed the kindness to her sister by explaining the science behind the breaking of glass when it is subjected sudden heat energy.
