object is placed at distance of 20 cm in front of concave mirror. 
u = - 20 cm ( object is placed to the left of the mirror)  
v = - 40 cm 
focal length of concave mirror, f= ?
 
 
By mirror formula, 
 
1 over f equals 1 over v plus 1 over u
 
1 over f equals fraction numerator 1 over denominator negative 40 end fraction plus fraction numerator 1 over denominator negative 20 end fraction
f space equals space minus space 13.33 space c m
 

focal length of concave mirror is negative and its value is 13.33 cm in this case.
