Expert Answer
Let the present age of son and father be x and y respectively.
After 5 years,
Son's age = x + 5
Father's age = y + 5
By given condition,
y + 5 = 3x + 15 (1)
Five years ago,
Son's age = x - 5
Father's age = y - 5
From the given condition,
y - 5 = 7x - 35 (2)
Subtracting (2) from (1),
4x = 40
So, x = 10
Hence, present age of son = 10
Present age of father = 40
