According to Bohr-Bury rules, what are the conditions for the filling of electrons in:
i. A new shell
ii. A penultimate shell and outermost shell

Expert Answer
i. Electrons are not accomodated in a new shell unless the inner shells are completely filled.
ii. The outermost shell cannot hold more than 2 electrons and the penultimate shell cannot hold more than 9 electrons unless the preceding inner shell is filled with its maximum number of electrons.
