Hi Kriya,

Mary Howitt was an English poet who was born on 12 March 1799. She was born to a wealthy man named Samuel Botham and a lady named Ann. She had two sisters named Anna, Emma and a brother named Charles. She was educated at home and from a young age Mary enjoyed reading and writing. She is credited with writing over 180 books with her husband. She is the one who wrote the famous poem ‘The Spider and the Fly’. It is a cautionary tale for naïve people about the dangers of falling for smooth-talking people.
