ABCD is trapezium in which AB||DC. E is the mid-point AD. If F is a point on side BC such that segment EF is parallel to side DC, Show that EF = (AB + CD)

In ADC, E is the mid-point of AD and EG||DC

AG = GC

EG = DC ….(i) (Mid-point theorem)

Similarly in ABC, BF = FC

GF = AB …(ii) (Mid-point theorem)

Adding (i) and (ii)

EG + GF = DC + AB

EF = (AB + DC)
