answered-by-expert Expert Answer
Speed of transverse wave in the string = begin mathsize 12px style square root of T over mu end root space end style
where T is tension inthe string and μ is linear mass density

T = 1kgwt = 10 N

It is assumed that μ = 1g/cm  = 0.1 kg/m

hence speed  v = begin mathsize 12px style square root of fraction numerator 10 over denominator 0.1 end fraction end root space space equals space 10 space m divided by s end style
time to trave a distance 50 cm = distance/speed = 0.5/10 = 0.05 s = 50 milli-seconds
