a vessel is in the form of an inverted cone its height is8cm and radius of top which is open is 5cm . it is filled up with water up to brim when lead short each of which is the sphere of radius 0.5 cm are dropped into the vessal 1/4th of water flows out. find the no of lead short droped in vessal.

Expert Answer
Volume of water = (1/3)π×5×5×8 = (200/3)π cm3
(1/4)th of volume of water = volume of total number of lead shorts.
let N be the number of lead shorts
Then we have, (1/4)×(200/3)π = N×(4/3)π×(1/2)×(1/2)×(1/2)
after simplification of the above equation, we get N = 100
