A student was determining the melting point of ice in lab, the teacher found that student was not using stirer. Teacher ask the student to use stirer and then determining the melting point.
a. Is use of stirer necessary during heating?
b. What is the purpose of stirer?

a. Yes, the use of stirrer is necessry during heating.
b. The stirrer is used to maintain uniform distribution of heat in the water or parrafine taken in the boiling flask.
It helps uniform, steady, constant, equal heating from all sides of solid substance taken in the capillary for checking the melting point.
