A stone is thrown vertically upward with a speed of 10 m/s. How high dose the stone rise before returning back to the Earth? Given acceleration due to Earth's attraction, g=9.8m/s2

formula to be used :-    v2 = u2 - 2gh , where v is final velocity which is zero when stone reaches maximum height.
u is initial velocity, g is acceleration due to gravity and h is distance travelled.
 
hence we get maximum height h = u2 / ( 2g ) = 100 /(2×9.8) = 5.1 m
