Space ship accelerated by firing engine during first 10 seconds. Its speed has changed from 200 km/s to 600 km/s in 10 seconds.

acceleration  = Change in velocity / time = (600-200)/10 = 40 km/s2 = 40000 m/s2;

distance S1 travelled during accelerated motion is given by :  S1 = u×t +(1/2)a×t2  , where u is initial velocity, a is acceleration and t is time

S1 = 200×1000×10 +(1/2)×40000×100 = 4000×1000 m/s  = 4000 km/s

After 10 seconds , space ship will travel with uniform speed 600 km/s (no acceleration)

distance travelled S2 for next 20 seconds is given by :-  S2 = 600×1000×20 = 12000 km

total distance travelled S1+S2 = 4000+12000 = 16000 km
