(a) In sickle-cell anaemia, due to point mutation, there is a substitution of a single nitrogen base at the sixth codon of the globin chain of haemoglobin.

 

 

 

 

 

 

(b) The genotypes of both the parents would be HbAHbS and HbAHbS.
