A Pulley  system lifts a load of 1200 Newton by an effort of 250 Newton if the load due to movable part of machine is 300 N find the mechanical advantage , ideal  ,velocity ratio ,number of pulleys and efficiency

load to be lifted = 1200 N; load of moveable part = 300 N; total load = 1200+300 = 1500 N;
 
effort = 250 N;
 
mechanical advantage is equal to number of pulleys. ideal mechanical advatage = 1200/250 = 6 
 
hence number of pulleys n = 6;
 
actual mechanical advantage = n - (w/E) , where w is load due to pulley's system and E is effort
 
actual mechanical advantage = 6 -(300/250) = 4.8
 
Efficiency begin mathsize 12px style equals space 1 space minus space fraction numerator w over denominator n space E end fraction space equals space 1 space minus space fraction numerator 300 over denominator 6 cross times 250 end fraction space equals space 0.8 end style
velocity ratio = 6
