The defect is myopia.
The distance of far point = 50 cm
For correcting far point,
u = -∞
v= -50 cm
begin mathsize 14px style negative 1 over 50 plus 1 over infinity equals 1 over straight f straight f equals negative 50 end style
To view distant objects a concave lens of focal length -50 cm should be used.
Syntax error from line 1 column 154 to line 1 column 155. Unexpected 'mathvariant'.
The -ve sign indicates that it is a concave lens.
