CBSE Class 11-science Answered

A particle of mass m is at rest at the origin at time t= 0. Is subjected to a force F(t)= Foe-bt in the x direction. Graphically show the variation of speed with time and justify your answer.

I assume the force  F(t) = F0exp(-b×t)

It is assumed that F0 and b are constants

Acceleration a = dv/dt = F(t)/m = (F0/m)×exp(-b×t)

dv = (F0/m)×exp(-b×t)dt

By integrating above, we get speed,  v(t) = (-1/b)(F0/m)×exp(-b×t)

The graph shown below is drawn for the above speed function v(t) by assuming (F0/m)=10 and b=0.5
