A particle moves along a straight line such that its displacement at any time t is given by . Show that the acceleration is constant, and find the velocity of the particle at t=3 s.

The displacement at time t,

Instantaneous velocity,
 ms-1
And instantaneous acceleration,
  ms-2
So the acceleration is constant.
Then, from the velocity equation,
=-33m/s
Here, negative velocity means that the body is moving towards the origin, that is,
as time advances, displacement decreases.
