A motorcycle starts from rest and uniformly accelerates at 1m/s.Find the distance travelled in the 3rd second.

Expert Answer
initial velocity at 3rd second = velocity attained after travelling 2 seconds = a×t = 1×2 = 2 m/s
( the equation used in above statement is , " v = u+at ", u = initial velocity = 0, v is final velocity)
To get distance travelled at 3rd second, we need to use the equation, "S = ut+(1/2)at2 ", with u = 2m/s and t =1 becuase it is one second travel
Distance S travelled at 3rd second is, S = 2+(1/2)×1 = 2.5 m
