A momento is made as shown in the figure. Its base, shade is to be silver plated from the front at the rate of Rs 20 per cm2. What is the total cost of silver plating?

AB = AL + LB = 7+3 =10, AC = AM + MC = 7 + 3 = 10

The area of the right triangle ABC is given by

The area of the quadrant ALM

Area(LBCM) = Ar(ABC) - Ar(quadrant ALM) = 50 - 38.5 = 11.5 cm2

At the rate of Rs 20 per cm2, the total cost of silver plating

= Rs 20 11.5 = Rs 230
