answered-by-expert Expert Answer
interest = P*R*t/100 where P is the principal, R is the rate of interest and t is the time

Hence, let the amount invested at 12% rate = Rs x
Then, the amount invested at 14% interest = Rs (5000-x)

Total annual interest = x*12*1/100 + (5000-x)*14*1/100
636 = (12x + 70000-14x)/100
63600 = 70000-2x
2x = 6400
x = Rs 3200

Hence, amount invested at 14% = 5000-3200 = Rs 1800
