A load of 120 N is kept at a distance of 1.5 m from the fulcrum of a lever.At what distance an effort of 40 N need to be applied to balance the lever.

load arm × load = effort arm×effort
 
1.5 × 120 = effort arm × 40
 
effort arm = (1.5×120)/40 = 4.5 m
