CBSE Class 12-science Answered
A
glass lens of refractive index 1.5 is placed in a trough of liquid. What must
be the refractive index of the liquid in order to make the lens disappear?

Expert Answer
The lens will not be visible if no refraction occurs at the liquid-glass interface. This means that the incident ray should go through the glass without any deviation. For this condition to be fulfilled, the refractive index of the liquid must be equal to 1.5.
