Let age of son = x yrs.

Age of father = 3x yrs.

After 12 years:

3x + 12 = 2(x + 12)

3x + 12 = 2x + 24

x = 12

Age of son = x = 12 yrs

Age of father = 3x = 3 12 = 36 yrs
